Little Cayman 2009

Little Cayman—One of Our Best Trips. More than 30 Rotarians and guests found their way to the Little Cayman Beach Resort in January, where they enjoyed outstanding food, accommodations and diving at the newly remodeled facility. Those of us who thought the lodgings at Little Cayman were a bit rustic or primitive were pleasantly surprised to find modern rooms and free web access. Combine this with large, comfortable dive boats, an excellent staff, and the legendary diving of Little Cayman, we could not have asked for a better week of diving. Unfortunately, lionfish have found their way to the Cayman Islands as well as various other parts of the Atlantic and Caribbean. Lionfish present a serious threat to the ecology of reefs in these areas, and researchers, including those at CCMI, are working on strategies to handle or eliminate lionfish from these areas where they do not belong and have no natural enemies.
